Dänkki Briha is an ethnofuturistic banger machine, inspired by and drawing from Ingrian-Karelian-Finnish folklore, myths, and urban aesthetics. It combines theatrical expression, ancient rhymes, and a futuristic soundscape.
The songs feature both the southeastern dialect of Finnish and smaller Finnic languages and dialects, including Livonian Karelian and Veps.
”The boundaries of music and expression therefore exist in principle, but in practice I cannot say where traditional knowledge ends and the modern era begins. What part of the text – if any – is centuries-old folk poetry. But perhaps anonymity, unpredictability, and the freedom achieved thereby are the reason and purpose for the audio art heard. Words gain new meanings, times change, and yet like-minded people move along the same shores.”
